Nullarbor Road Trip

Day 10

Port Augusta - Adelaide, Friday 18th October.

Only a three hour drive today down the road to Adelaide so I thought we take a detour though the Clair valley. it was a nice drive thought the hills to the other side of the ranges.. our first stop was at Melrose the Mount Remarkable is ad the swinging bridge. then onto Claire which found was a nice town, as Tsai wanted to go into Nab bank to organise a travel card the whole power switched off. so we had a walk and carry on to Adelaide driving though past some vineyards. we arrived in Adelaide at 3pm soon after. to find a nice place up in the hills to camp which was nice. Day 9

Ceduna - Port August, Thursday 17th October.

It was windy last night in Ceduna. and hoping this was the last of the Sand and gravel campsites and looking forward to pitching my tent onto some grass.
it was a pretty boring journey to Port Augusta with not much to see. apart from road signs like these below. the one made me chuckle Iron Knob.
by now we could see the flinders ranges up behind Port Augusta. we arrived in Port August at 3pm. and found a Cheap site. not up to much and pretty dirty in the loos so didn't venture in their.
looking forward to getting to Adelaide to start my road trip along the Great Ocean Road to Melbourne.

Day 8

Eucla (WA) - Ceduna (South Australia), Wednesday 16th October

This morning we left a bit earlier as we had many things to see and do along the way.
first was to pack up and go and see the old observation tower or telegraph station, 4kms down towards the Beach from where we were staying in Eucla.
After looking at the Ruin of the old Telegraph Station we set of to Ceduna, along the way we filled up the tank at Nullarbor Roadhouse, looked at the Great Australian Bight, stopped at the only Roadhouse that isn't open anymore at Yalata (your in the Aboriginal Land here) then filled up again at Nundroo (Aboriginal Land) then finally to Ceduna. the Roadhouse in the Aboriginal Land aren't kept up to Standard due to the Aboriginals.

Day 7

Balladonia - Eucla Tuesday 15th October.

Today was the day we drove the longest straight road in Australia and still in WA. it wasn't so straight as I had to pass and overtake around 7 Moving Objects.
we stopped at Caiguna to fill up and recover from the straight road. its important to rest and take breaks in long drives like today. and also important to fill up car every other roadhouse.
after Caiguna we went onto Madura (lunch Time) and here you see a really nice view of the Nullarbor as you drive down the ridge that soon forms the Australian Bight.
I stop at Mundrabilla to fill car up, then finally onto Eucla where we stayed for the night before crossing over into South Australia.

Day 6

Esperance - Balladonia Monday 14th October.

This Morning was going to be hot and I wasn't feeling up to driving far so we settled with driving to Balladonia which was 2 hours down the Eyre Highway from Norseman.
we finally left Esperance at 10am. and arrived to Balladonia at 3 pm that afternoon.
I was getting rather tired and lacking energy once I arrived to Balladonia so I decided to jump into the unheated swimming pool they had there, and swimming pool in the dessert. that made my day, it refreshed me from the next few days.

Day 3,4,5

Esperance.

When we arrived in Esperance I was amazed on the size of this place. small town out of the way from anywhere, you are truly isolated from the rest of WA here. Tsai 2 friends were due here today and to share my tent with us for 2 nights. had a lot of fun with them seeing Esperance and the surrounding countryside and beaches, Day 3 we went on a drive around the 10 Mile Lagoon.
On Day 4 we all went to see the Replica of Stonehenge as it would of been when first built then we went to the Cape Le grand National park. then Back to Campsite.

The Great Eastern Highway, WA, 10/10/2013

Good bye to Perth for a long-time now. First stop would of been Kalgoorlie if I left earlier but traffic got in the way at rush hour so decided to leave later at 9am on the 10th October. but I still got caught up with traffic. I Had to get to Bickley in the  Perth hill to pick my travel partner up. Tsai  who is from Taiwan.
We finally left Bickley at 11am. and first stop is Mundaring to fill tank.
Our second stop was at Cunderdin for lunch, then onto Bodallin for second stop and to fill tank (better safe than sorry) don't want to run out in the assie out back..
Our final stop on Day 1 was our over night stop at Goldfields Woodland National Park, Boondi Rock.
